Does the Students' Council have a fixed CCA time, like how other CCAs have training/practice times?

Yes! Students' Council will appear in your CCA records as a CCA. All councillors may join a second CCA, but council must remain your priority.

Past leadership experience is not a prerequisite to join SC! Many of our councillors did not have prior leadership positions before joining the 38th Students' Council, and this provided them with the opportunity to step out of their comfort zone, learn, and grow. As long as you have an open mind and are receptive to feedback for growth and improvement, we will welcome you with open arms :-)

Being in the Students' Council does require a lot of commitment. Since the SC is the highest leadership board in VJC, there are many activities that we need to plan and execute on behalf of the school. Thus, we often meet up to ideate, discuss, and formulate proposals for initiatives and events. However, the commitment is definitely manageable and challenges councillors to manage their time well and plan efficiently. A plus point to all of this is that with all the time spent together, you really find your second family here in VJ!

Potential councillors must demonstrate the ability to manage academic workload together with the demands of council. Councillors are students first, councillors second; maintaining decent grades is a minimum.

Academics are a priority for all Victorians. As the role models of the school, councillors should at least maintain good academic results. The teachers will evaluate councillors' academic performance, and if they are deemed to be unable to cope well with academic work, the teachers will review on a case-by-case basis and take action accordingly to help the councillor get back on track with academic work.

As long as you are willing to lead and serve the school, and are passionate about helping your fellow Victorians, you are encouraged to join us! We highly value dedication, commitment, and resilience in our councillors.

No. During campaigning, common mediums will be provided for all nominees' to ensure that everyone is given an equal platform to promote themselves to the school. Ultimately, Victorians are looking out for how sincere and passionate you are about leading and serving the school, which will be evident through your campaigning.

While the idea of having to promote yourself to the school can seem daunting, all nominees will be attached to a mentor from the 38th Students' Council. We will do our best to support you throughout your campaigning phase. Also, nominees will be campaigning in groups, so rest assured that you will never be alone during campaigning :-)

There are between 35-40 councillors per batch.

Our General Meetings (GMs) take place every Friday from 4.30pm to 7.30pm, where we discuss the various initiatives and events we have planned! However, throughout the rest of the week, you may also attend additional meetings to work on adhoc or committee tasks.
